I’m trying to root my black Pandigital Novel 7” Multimedia e-reader to an Android tablet. I’ve tried Pandigital Novel Black upgrader version 6.2.01 (U.S.

Version) Pandigital Novel Black upgrader version 6.2.01 (Canadian version) Each time I get the error: (sorry, not sure how to insert picture. But its long and has a huge list with it) My firmware version is: pole1.pvt rd101 2g5 w an150010 ad10 7d bn01 -7d (please excuse any typos, the letters were hard to make out) Model #: PRD07T20WBL1 S.N.: 193198 I have the.Net Framework 4.5. One post said I should change my registry with: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Fusion 'EnableLog'=dword:00000001 But I don’t like playing around with the registry. I reset the reader to factory settings, hoping it would work out the problem, it didn’t. Also it came with 5 free books to read (epub format) but the reader wont see them. I can only get it to play videos that are 320.240 which can also be very annoying.

I’ve read posts that say to add ‘es file downloader’. I downloaded it onto the reader root sd card but all I’m able to do is click/tap it and get the options to delete or cancel the file. MadMorgan, that certainly does look like old firmware. The updater is not complaining that it doesn't recognize your serial number is it? If you have an account on a site like mediafire or something like that, you could upload your picture of your error messages and let us have a look at it that way. You might be able to upgrade just using the files in the firmware development section, but I'm not sure if there are any issues with firmware as old as yours or not.

Hopefully somebody will come along who can say for sure. MadMorgan, The error you're getting looks like the pandigital server is not available. You may just want to try it again a little later. It may also be permanently gone since Pandigital appears to have gone out of business, and at least partially bought out.

I tried the updater on mine. It doesn't work for me either, although I got a different error than you did. I'm pretty sure all the updater did was look up an appropriate firmware file for your unit, load it on your unit, and reboot for you.

It's probably fine to just load one of the firmware updates from here, but I'd wait for Terminander or somebody familiar with the old stuff to confirm it. I never used the old firmware, so I'm not really sure how to load apps like es file explorer. I seem to recall reading that you had to side load a new home app first so that you could get to an android home screen and then work from there, but I'm not sure of the details. But once you get it set up right, you should be able to add apps from the root of the sd card as you were trying.

I was able to root to an android running a 1.5 firmware but I'm not able to add anything from google market to it. I keep getting the error 'you haven't accessed the google play store app (the white shopping bag icon) on your device with this e-mail account'. Apparently my device isnt compatible with it, as it says, 'You don't have any devices'.

Mine looks like this: minus the B+N, ES File Explorer, and office Suite apps. Tried installing the B+N, wouldn't acknowledge my tablet. ES File Explored downloaded but wouldn't install.

Pandigital novel ereader

Esfileexplorerv1-1.6.2.4.apk says it cannot be installed on this phone. I haven't downloaded Office Suite, I wanted to get the other two working first. In short, I want the one like the picture or Jelly Bean. Any help would be appreciated. MadMorgan, it sounds like you are trying to use the web version of the market are you? That won't work with 1.5, you'll need to use the market app on your device. For that you'll need to flash Terminander's firmware from the firmware subforum if you haven't already.

Which firmware did you install? You will need the 'cupcake' version of es file explorer to work on 1.5. The market says the last version of that one 1.6.0.4, but it's a separate app. Look for the (1.5 Cupcake version). Out of curiosity, where are you downloading these apps if not from market?

From Slideme? Some other source? If you're already using Terminander's firmware, there should be apps in /PDNovel/Download on your device that you can install, including the B&N reader. You could even just extract the apps from Terminander's firmware file using the 7-zip program if you wanted. Edited by edca2002, 03 January 2013 - 09:56 PM.
