Seriously- after already spending over a grand on Xmas presents for the family (including football Bowl tickets)- I decided I would buy a little something for myself. Not that I needed anything, but I just started looking around for whatever caught my fancy.which, as it turned out, was an Audire Crescendo 75wpc power amp on CL.
I just picked it up and haven't had time to play it or take pics (at work now, more tonight), but cosmetically it's 9/10 and a weighty beast. It also has the led power bars and rack handles (see a grainy pic below). Not a lot of info out there, except that it was highly regarded and has a 'tube-like' sound (that nebulous phrase again!). Fortunately my Vincent tube-hybrid preamp can handle 2 power amps (separate ins and outs), so I can hook this and the Nelson Pass CAS-1 up at the same time, and do an A-B on the spot.
I'm also thinking of using each amp to drive a pair of speakers (paired up on the Nelson Pass amp now). Both are 75wpc, which is plenty of power for me, as I can't get it past 3 before the wife starts banging on the man-cave doors. I'm beginning to like these mid-power esoteric amps, and I hope this one matches the Nelson Pass for quality sound. I will report more (with pics) tonight.
